ORHC Trainer and Concussion Seminars
Submitted By Karen Pike on Thursday, September 27, 2018
The ORHC will once more be holding two Trainer and Concussion Seminars. Hosted by Russell Gunner, ORHC Head Trainer for the past 10 years, the seminars are a wayto better familiarize you with concussions and other things that may arise while on the bench or ice.
This season we are making them MANDATORY for all NEW and RETURNING trainers. If the team trainer cannot make either of those dates, please make sure there is another representative from the team (asst trainer, head or asst coach, etc.).

New things that will be covered:

1) Baseline testing for concussions, is it mandatory, recommended or not necessary?

2) Last season we added hands-on scenarios where got down and dirty to better familiarize you with some on-ice situations that may arise. This seemed to be a huge hit so we will do it again with some different scenarios. Please come dressed accordingly as you may have to lie on the floor.

 3) New medical form process for AP’s

4) New suggested roles for the trainer from the OMHA

5) Warm-up for pre-game - I will go over some ideas on how to run a pre-game warm-up

6) Who needs a trainer Kit? - I have been able to secure some trainers kits from Sidelines sports and will have some at the seminar for $20. Please let me know if you need one so I have the appropriate stock. Please bring exact change (cash only).

ORHC Trainer and Concussion seminars:

Dates: Wednesday October 17th or Thursday, October 25th (you only need to attend just one, NOT both)

Times: 7-9pm

Location: River Oaks Arena (Community room A)

Please email me a confirmation of which night you will attend as we have a limit of 150 per night.
