Oakville’s
PeeWee AE Ranger team recently won the Georgina Silver Stick qualifying
tournament December 13th to 15th. They are now invited to attend the 15th
Annual International Silver Stick AE Finals in Pelham from January 9th
to 12th.
The team went 2 - 1 during the round robin starting with a tough loss to the Ajax Knights (5-3) but rebounded quickly beating New Hamburgh (10-0) and host Georgina Blaze (4-0). The Rangers qualified as the wildcard team in the semi-finals and beat the top seeded Merriton Bulldogs 5-1. A finals rematch between the Rangers with Ajax Knights was a great battle with the Rangers prevailing 2-0 on great team play, goals and timely saves.
The Champion PeeWee Rangers are Caleb Field (Captain), Holden Harris & Alex Williams (Alternate Captains), Goalies Pierre-Olivier Charette and Jacob Scanga, and the players Max Gilbert, Jonathan Bodner, Kyle Patton, Carter Pauley, Peter-Joel Hooper, Luke Huntley-Brown, Ethan Oliveira, Craig Caporal, David Masar, Nicco Folino, Ryan Bevington, and Ethan MacDonald. Special mention goes to our 2 alternate player call ups Nicolas Dessureault and Tyler Janovecz who played key roles in this weekend’s success. The Rangers are coached by Greg Harris, Greg Williams, Rob Bodner with team trainers Rod Oliveira and Andrew MacDonald and Team Manager – Edward Scanga.
