Rangers Peewee A White Win the Tri-County Championship!!!
Congratulations to the Rangers Peewee A White team who defeated the defending Tri-County Champion, Woolwich Wildcats, 3 games to 1 to bring home the League Championship trophy to Oakville this past weekend!
The Rangers finished the regular season a single point out of 1st position and faced the 5th ranked Woolwich Wildcats for the Tri-County Championship.
The Rangers opened up the Tri-County finals with a convincing 2-0 victory in Oakville on some strong defensive play and backstopped by solid shut-out goaltending with all the scoring coming late in the 3rd period.
In Woolwich for game #2, our opponents spotted us a 3 goal lead going into the 3rd period, but the Wildcats kept pressing and managed to tie the game with a little over a minute left. Thankfully our Rangers didn't panic (too much) and with only 11 seconds remaining in regulation we were able to find the back of the net to take a commanding 2-0 series lead back to Oakville.
In the 3rd and decisive game, the boys took "March Break" too literally and suffered a 4-2 setback at home, which cut the series lead 2-1. That meant back to Woolwich's barn for game #4 where the boys have had to pull out all the stops for previous wins as each game there had been decided only by a single goal.
After the first few shifts, the Rangers seemed to be back to themselves, although it was obvious Woolwich was not going to rollover. After a scoreless draw in the first, the Rangers killed two penalties in the 2nd before the TSN turning-point with the Rangers scoring first on a snap shot off the goalie's arm and into the net for a 1-0 lead. In the 3rd period, and down only a single goal, Woolwich did not let up and continued to pressure the Rangers for much of the third where our goaltending came up with BIG save after BIG save for the shut-out and series win!!!
Congratulations to Head Coach Dave Bessant, Assistant Coaches Jason Diplock & Brad Webster, Trainer Greg "Doc" Teague and Manager, Rob Crawford and the entire Rangers Peewee A White team on their first Tri-County Championship! Ranger players of the Peewee A White team include: Patrick Dubreuil (D), Tyler Diplock (D), Ben Teague (D), Daniel Munro (D), Jacob Mathers (D), Michael Neil-Mahovlich (D), Torin Hession (F), Trevor Chau (F), Will Conn (F), Riley Crawford (F), Cole Webster (F), Scott Armes (F), Connor Calvert (F), Josh Platt (F), Kobe Arai (F) and to our two goaltenders Jackson Roode & Alex Zamuner who each had a shutout in the series.
Also, a special mention to our APs Charlie Langlois (F), Ross McKay (D) and Ryan Shannon (G) who helped us tremendously by filling in for sick/ injured players throughout the season.
