Minor Peewee AE Rangers thankful for win in Peterborough Thanksgiving tournament
The Oakville minor peewee AE Rangers celebrated Thanksgiving by winning the Peterborough A level tournament on October 12.
The team entered the championship game undefeated, winning their round robin opener against Credit Valley (3-0), tying Applewood (1-1), Peterborough (3-3), and then shutting out Newmarket AE (4-0). Newmarket’s A team proved a tough challenge in the championship game, holding Oakville to a tie (2-2) as the teams closed out overtime and entered the shoot-out.
While goalie Thomas Rea held Newmarket’s shooters to a single shootout goal, Oakville’s Matthew Perry, Joshua Finkle and Simon Dowd all found the back of the net.
Members of the team are Tyler Bolender, Michael Chornous, Shane Dormer, Simon Dowd, Joshua Finkle, Samuel Holmes, Nolan Johnson, Joshua Nesbitt, Mark Novakovic, Anthony O’Coin, Matthew Perry, Thomas Rea, Logan Reid, Travis Robertson, Jackson Round, Aiden Sholdice, and Sam Swatuk. Brent Robertson, Matt Nesbitt, Paul Dormer, Bill Bolender, and Tony Rea coach the team. Jeff Sholdice is the team trainer.
