Go Penguins Go! You came ready to play and you captured your first playoff win. There wasn't a lot of room to move with the Stingers buzzing around you. However, you fought hard to create some opportunities and you did it as a team. You bounced the puck along the boards and set it loose for the forwards to take it away. In the offensive zone, you all did a great job at putting pressure on the goalie, by shooting or passing in front of the net. You took the shot no matter what angle you were coming from. It made a difference as the puck found its way into the net.
The defence put out a solid effort today. They stayed cool and collected when the Stingers came blazing through into our end. Staying close to the forwards and playing the puck, kept the shots on our net to a minimum.
The player of the game was our goalie, Nolan. Congratulations on the shut out! He defended the crease well and kept the puck out, even when he had a sea of yellow in front of him. With the score at 2 - 0 in the first and second period, he made critical saves to keep the momentum going on the Penguins' side.
Coaches, Bryan, Joe, Brent, Mark and Team Manager, Mabel would like to thank the team and the parents for making this season so special. The team should be proud of their hard work, development and team spirit. Also, thanks for the special cake, decorated so beautifully by Jennifer Poole. We are so fortunate to have such a supportive and generous group of parents.
