Oshawa Tourney Champs!
The Wolverines took their previous league game and used it as inspiration in Oshawa over the weekend.  Playing two games on Friday, one on Saturday, and one on Sunday for a fantastic weekend filled with great hockey.

The Wolverines played Caledon Hawks on Friday afternoon.  They battled hard and kept the pressure on.  The game was a nail biter from the opening face off.  The game was a 1-1 tie until late in the third when the Wolverines were able to bury the games third goal.  With only 3 minutes remaining, Caledon was able to tie it up for a 2-2 final.

The evening game was against a very fast Oshawa team and once again it was another extremely well played game.  Giving up and early goal, the Wolverines pressed hard.  The two teams fought hard and the Wolverines won the scoring chances battle but were unable to solve the Oshawa goalie.  They were downed 1-0.

The schedule was not kind to the Wolverines as they didn't play again until 8:pm the following day.  They took on the Peterborough Petes and were out to show they deserved to be a top ranked team.  The Wolverines took a quick 2-0 lead before the Petes were able to get their engines started.  By the end of the 1st, the Wolverines were up 3-0.  The Petes, however, came to play and made it 3-1 in the second.  The Wolverines were able to hold on for a 3-1 win to place them in the pool B Championship game.

The Championship game was at 8:15am on Sunday.  The players were pumped coming off a sugar high from some awesome cupcakes they enjoyed after the win the night before.  They were playing the Goulding Park Rangers and the Wolverines had no plans to take it lightly.  They pressured the Rangers from the first face off.  The Wolverines were swarming the Rangers net like bees.  Unfortunately they were worker bees rather than soldier bees and failed to score early.  The rangers finally got the puck inside the Wolverines blue line and took a shot.  It must have been a knuckle ball as it went off Nick's glove and in.  It was one of those games where you think a fluke could win it.  The Wolverines did not despair.  They knew they were out working the Rangers and their time would come.  It came shortly after and it was tied up from a centering pass from the corner.  The boys went to work after that and netted two more before the TSN Turning Point came.  The Rangers were awarded a penalty shot, (undeservedly), and failed to connect thanks to a perfectly played backward sliding butterfly executed by Nick in the Wolverines net.  The Wolverines went on to score on an empty net to seal the deal and earn the Championship.

Well done Wolverines finishing the tourney with a 2-1-1 record and a 9-5 goal differential in four games.
