Born and raised in “la belle province”, I grew up playing rep hockey in south shore Montreal. After High School I continued to play on various intra mural teams and adult leagues. As a big advocate of multi-sport, I also participated in varsity rugby, soccer and in the summer raced Sprint Canoe Kayak at the National level. As a 15 year resident of Oakville I have been involved in coaching numerous teams for both the Oakville Rangers and Oakville Hornets in House League, Select and Rep with a strong track record of supporting athletes achieve their growth goals.
Time Commitment
The season will run from the End of August to mid-April. Each player is expected to attend all functions and to prioritize Hockey as their top sport during the hockey season. In addition to on ice practices, we will be looking at an offsite team building activities in the spring, team retreat in September, players can anticipate 4-5 activities per week including one away game. We plan to participate in a 3 tournaments this year: 1 away, 2 local - with all players expected to participate. And (hopefully!!) the OMHAs (Feb/March, 2025)!
Financial Commitment
The final team budgets are yet to be finalized but we expect it to be approximately $60,000 (~ $3,500/player). We will be looking for sponsorship as well as fundraising activities to help off set the budget. The difference will be split amongst the 17 families.
Family Commitment
We will need every parent to volunteer to help with team management and team functions, to ensure a positive experience for the kids. This will be discussed at the parent meeting. All players/families will be expected to attend all team functions. It will be the family’s responsibility to ensure that hockey does not negatively impact their school work.
The U10 B team will be composed of 17 players (15 skaters and 2 goalies). The tryout process is the final step in selecting the team. Prior to the tryouts, all player evaluations have been gathered from:
- Rep coaching selection committee input
- Feedback received from the 2024/25 coaches
- Having watched the boys at various games and practices
- Tryout performance at the "A" Tryouts
- Tryout performance at the "B" Tryouts
The U10 B Tryouts will consist of 3 Tryout Sessions. The first Session, on May 10th, is a Split Session with skills evaluation and small scrimmage, followed by a second and third Invitation Only Session on May 11th and 12th.
An email will be sent to each player after each session advising them if they have been selected to the team, released from the Tryout, or invited to attend the next session.
