2019 Shrink the Rink Tournament Jamboree
Submitted By Melissa Wolk on Wednesday, September 19, 2018
Following the huge success of the Inaugural event last year, the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club is pleased to bring back the Shrink the Rink Festival! This year's event will feature Tyke divisions at the House league and Select divisions in addition to the IP division.

The 2019 event will be taking place this Family Day Weekend, February 16th and 17th, 2019,  at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex in Oakville.  The new Hockey Canada small ice surface mandate has inspired the Shrink the Rink event, which will focus on building skills and celebrating the game in a fun and supportive environment. On-ice instructors will help to reinforce key skills and the rules of the game, but teams will earn points based on spirit and fun instead of the number of goals scored.

Open to all House League Initiation teams, House League Tyke teams, and Tyke Select teams, this one day event will feature both on-ice games and off-ice games in the mini-stick zone! On ice games will be played small area style, with three games guaranteed per team.  Mini Stick games will be organised and scheduled so all teams get to participate! Teams can register in 1 of 3 skill levels and will be paired accordingly.

Tentatively IP teams will play on Saturday February 16th, 2019 and the Tyke teams will play on Sunday February 17, 2019.

Game and Tournament Format: One day format
Tentatively IP teams will play on Saturday February 16th, 2019 and the Tyke teams will play on Sunday February 17, 2019.

- All games will be played on half ice, four on four with a goalie
- Enhanced game atmosphere to include player announcements and the singing of O'Canada
- 3 on-ice game guarantee
- 1 mini-stick game guarantee
- Teams will be match based on skill level determined at the time of team registration
- Teams from the OWHA, Alliance, GTHL, and NOHA are welcome
