Oakville Rangers Remain in Red Control Zone - What Programming will look like
Submitted By Melissa Wolk on Friday, November 20, 2020
In response to Halton's continuation in the Red/Control Covid-19 restriction levels, we have been forced to make some very difficult decisions. Please read on for details, and expect more information in the coming days.

House League

House League programming will be paused until January 2021. At that time we will reassess the situation, current Covid restriction level, and direction from our governing bodies and Town of Oakville.

Like you, we are saddened to have to pause the game we all love, and one that gives us all such great pleasure to watch and play. However, this is only a temporary measure – we will reinstate our House League programming as soon as we are allowed. Registration fees will be used toward the continuation of the season once we are given the green light.

This was a necessary, and difficult decision. We are a not-for-profit Club and our House League programs are one of the largest in North America. Our fees reflect the best efforts to provide a fun and healthy recreational hockey experience for everyone in Oakville. Changes to the maximum amount of players allowed on the ice would have DOUBLED the cost to run House League - meaning double the cost for our players. Even if enough ice was available to run at double the size – the cost is prohibitive and against our House League mandate given to us by the Oakville Ranger families of providing a fun and affordable hockey experience.

Oakville Rangers House League Skills Academy

We have been working hard creating options for House League players wishing to stay on the ice these next few weeks. We are finalizing a new Oakville Rangers Hockey Academy program that will work within the new mandate (9 players on the ice maximum). This program will be optional and will have limited availability with a first-come registration system. Look for all the details in a separate communication coming out shortly.

Rep Division

Changes and modifications are also required in our Rep hockey division. The maximum allowed players will be forcing us to modify our approach. Further details on the changes in this division will be emailed to those families directly affected.

This is a difficult time for our Rangers family. We are proud of how well all our players, coaches, and families have been following the modified rink procedures and maintaining social distancing, wearing masks and staying positive both on and off the bench. Let’s continue to stay positive and follow the guidelines given to us by the Government of Ontario and Halton Region.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to restarting the season as soon as we are allowed.
