VP's of Rep Announcement
The Oakville Rangers Hockey Club is pleased to announce the Vice Presidents of Rep for the 2024/25 season.  These volunteers and amazing ‘hockey people’ will be responsible for driving the club’s Rep programming, player development and coach selection. Each has extensive hockey and coaching backgrounds that will serve our coaches, players and Executive team very well.

Longtime VP AA to B/BB, Paul Gorman, resigned this past spring after many volunteer years of heavy lifting for our coaches and players. We thank him for his time and dedication.

Even Longer time VP AAA & Player Development, Jaan Luik, is moving into the role of Senior Rep Hockey Advisor. He will continue to help steer our overall Rep efforts and be a resource for both our new VPs and our coaches.

Welcome to our new VPs of Rep!

Rob Hisey: Rob brings a wealth of experience and passion to his role as Vice President of AAA for the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club. With a professional hockey career spanning 13 years, Rob has played at the highest levels of the game, gaining invaluable insights and expertise that he now passes on to the next generation of players.

After retiring from professional hockey in 2017, Rob transitioned seamlessly into coaching, where he has been leading AAA teams with the same dedication and commitment he showed on the ice. Currently coaching the U16 AAA team, Rob is deeply committed to developing well-rounded individuals, focusing on both their athletic skills and personal growth.

Rob’s philosophy as a coach and leader is centred on the belief that great hockey players are also great people. He emphasizes the importance of teamwork, discipline, and character, ensuring that his players are not only prepared for the challenges of the sport but also for life beyond the rink.

A key influence in Rob’s coaching journey has been Jaan Luik, whom Rob considers a mentor. Rob is incredibly grateful for Jaan's guidance over the years and is dedicated to growing the Rangers program to its fullest potential, fostering an environment where young athletes can thrive and reach their full capabilities.

Rob’s leadership is already making a significant impact and can be seen with the U16 AAA Rangers team who he has guided for the past 7 years and is ranked as one of the top teams in the province .His influence will undoubtedly shape the future of the Oakville Rangers AAA program for years to come.

Aaron Mahoney: Aaron has a passion for hockey. Coaching Hockey has been a big part of his family’s life for the past 16 years. Aaron has coached AAA, AA, A, AE, Select and House League in the ORHC. Aaron played Minor Hockey at multiple levels up to the age of 18 and continued to play the game in various Men’s leagues. Aaron is High Performance 1 Certified Coach and has had strong success within the OMHA, winning multiple Red Hats. He acted as a Coach Mentor to numerous coaches within the ORHC and would regularly attend games and practices to help develop those coaches.

Aaron attended the University of Western Ontario and has a BA in Political Science. He currently works for Home Depot and has been with the company for 29 years, he held multiple positions at Home Depot including Store Manager for 2 Oakville Home Depots. He is currently a Divisional Product Merchant in charge of Tile and Tile Setting Material for all of Canada.

Aaron has 3 boys who all played hockey in ORHC with one moving onto playing Junior B with the Niagara Falls Canucks for 3 years, one who played House League throughout his minor hockey and finally his youngest who Aaron coaches along with his oldest son at U18 A. He has always wanted to stay involved in minor hockey to share his experience and knowledge with coaches and players. The ultimate goal is to pass on the knowledge, so we attract new coaches that have played at the higher levels to bring that knowledge and experience to the minor hockey players within the ORHC.

Ian Starkman: Growing up in Mississauga I was always passionate about the game of hockey and played the game I loved for many years in the GTHL. Starting with the Mississauga Reps and moving to the Rebels for 6 years with many accomplishments and more importantly lifelong friends. After minor hockey was complete, I moved to the Guelph Dominators in the Mid-Western Jr B league before going to play Jr C in Kingsville while attending the University of Windsor.

While focusing on my school and finding the next chapter of my life I was asked to be an assistant coach for the U10 Mississauga Senators. It turned out to be exactly what I needed to get back in the game and I enjoy teaching the next generation the game I loved so much. I was with the Senators for 3 years before moving on to the next challenge as an Assistant Coach with the Toronto Patriots of the OJHL, our success led to a Southeast Conference title.

Now that I have two boys of my own who love the game, I started all the way back coaching at the Timbit level. Teach these kids the basics of skating, puck handling and shooting. Seeing the smiles on their faces as they chase around the puck made me realize I wanted to coach again. Now having both boys play at the Rep Level with the Oakville Rangers and coaching the U8 MD1 team I can see how important great leadership is for the kids to develop. I believe in the fundamentals of the game at this young age and building relationships with their teammates and the community. The kids I coach learn how to be a team and set goals at the beginning of the season which we work towards at every practice. Working with the younger players has been rewarding and challenging but I am enjoying every minute of being an Oakville Ranger.
