1st Win!!!
Is there a doctor in the house?? The coaches needed you on the bench today!
As promised, the unbelievably exciting one goal game streak marches on. This time the Ice Dogs came out on top. The Ice Dogs played a solid game all around. What was really impressive is the drive and fight they showed in the offensive end. The players were gaining control of the puck and getting the puck into the slot AND there was a player there to take a shot. They are realizing that individual play is not the only way to play the game. I saw many passes made and attempted passed made today. The Ice Dogs scored a couple of goals on rebounds and scrambles which shows they were going to the net even without the puck!
Two of the goals scored on the Ice Dogs were fantastic individual efforts and awesome shots, one over the goalie's shoulder and the other over his elbow. AJ made a game saving stop with his glove hand late in the game.
The player's positioning was fantastic for most of the game. Very few shots were allowed from the slot. The defence covered each other and took care of the slot. There were a few breakdowns at the end of the game which seems to be the Ice Dogs nemesis. We seem to lose steam with 4 minutes left in the games we have played to date. We were able to recover on the last shift today to hem the opposition in their own end and finish strong with the game winning goal.
MUSH!!!!
