The Leafs were hoping to rebound from their first loss of the season last week, while the Black Beards were hoping to continue their strong play of late.
The Beards took the lead on the first shift of the game, when Sebastian McClay was able to jam the puck underneath the fallen Leafs goalkeeper. Midway through the first period Liam Murphy seemed to catch the Black Beards goalie off guard, scoring right off a faceoff.
The second period was scoreless, but the Leafs had the best chances. One was broken up on a good defensive play by Keith Dindell, while late in the period the blue shirts had a glorious opportunity but shot wide.
Midway through the third Henry Barber made the play of the week. He made a nice rush, finishing with a hard shot that Beards goalie Sebastian De Silva stopped, but Barber grabbed his own rebound and fired a wrister into the net to give his team the 2-1 lead.
Three times after that Connor Southworth had good rushes in an attempt to tie the game, but each time he was on his wrong wing and was unable to switch to his forehand to complete the play.
Scott Cestnik scored with three minutes to play to tie the score, and the last two minutes featured some exciting end to end action, but nothing changed the outcome, a 2-2 final.
