The Vipers were facing a high scoring team in the Red Bulls, but held them to no goals in the first period, taking a 1-0 lead with a goal of their own from Matthew Nazaruk.
Before they could enjoy the lead though, the Bulls expoded for three goals in less than two minutes to begin the second period. Robert Szaley scored twice on the same shift, and Andrew Melamed gave his team a two goal cushion.
Except for that brief letdown, Vipers goalie Oscar St. James-Kush actually played pretty well.
Late in the game the yellow sweaters got a goal from Lucas Bruce on a wrap-around, setting up an exciting last two minutes.
DeMaria pulled the goalie and had one good chance when Bruce skated from deep in his own end the whole length of the ice with the clock winding down, but the Bulls goalie Tyler Jones and his defence stopped that scoring chance.
