This game was a tight checking, low scoring affair.

Typical playoff hockey that turned out to be the first upset of this year's playoffs, though the Vipers, under Head Coach Frank DeMaria had been playing better toward the end of the season.

Midway through the first period Red Bulls goalie Tyler Jones made the initial save off a shot from Ardan O'Rourke, but couldn't close his hand on the puck in the crease, allowing Mathew Nazaruk the chance to knock the loose puck into the net.

Early in the second Nazaruk scored again, giving the Vipers a 2-0 edge entering the final frame.

Perhaps it just wasn't their day. To start the third the Red Bulls had a 2 on 0 break, but the shooter fanned on his shot.

The red shirts had a couple more odd-man rushes in the period, but shot wide each time.

Robert Szalay impressed with his hard work and by never giving up for the Bulls, but the Vipers held on, with Oscar St. James-Kush earning the shutout.
