Black Beards coach Mike Dietrich was down to just eight skaters for this one, a tough assignment against one of the league's better teams, the 4-2-2 Blizzard.
The black shirts came out strong though, hitting the post midway through the first period, and capitalizing a minute later when Sebastian McClay made an excellent pass out from behind the net that Vaugn Spence fired home.
In the second the Blizzard came to life. Daniel Tremblay was skating well and dangerous every shift, but Beards goalie Sebastian De Silva was solid; the only one getting by him a quick shot from the side boards from Thomas Luc.
The short handed Beards were perhaps a bit tired in the third, and were outscored 2-1. Tremblay was rewarded for a strong game with two goals, and Adrian Calleja scored with 19 seconds left to make the final 3-2.
