The Blizzard had the better goal scoring opportunities in the opening period, and finally scored when Matthew Wallace made a good pass out from the corner to his linemate Evan Hughes, who scored to put his team in front 1-0. The Leafs had two penalties in the period, so had a hard time getting going.
In the second the Leafs had two good chances early, but the Blizzard goalie, Damien Rothgerber made the saves.
The Blizzard scored two quick goals to open up a three goal margin. Wallace scored first completing a nice three-way passing play, then Hughes got his second of the game.
The Blizzard were still carrying the play, but then things fell apart, with the Leafs scoring three times in the last five minutes of the middle stanza with Nicholas Riviglia, Henry Barber and Max Holmes all scoring to tie things up entering the third.
The Leafs took the lead early with Holme's second goal, his sixth on the season, but the Blizzard came right back to tie it with Thomas Luc getting multiple chances with the goalie down and finally shovelling it in.
The Blizzard kept the pressure on, but one rush in the other direction resulted in a Leafs goal, a nice wrist shot from Benito Ritacco.
Coach Andrew Cockwell pulled his goalie in attempt to tie the score, but Barber fired his second of the game into the empty net.
Final score 6-4 for the Leafs, who remain unbeaten on the season. They play the Red Bulls next week, it should be a good contest.
