The Timekeeper didn't show up for this game so the Convenor had to step in. Normally there's not much action, so it's not a problem but there was something in the air at old Kinoak arena Monday night. 4 goals in the first 3 minutes, 8 goals in the first period alone!
The Vipers came out flying, and scored two goals in the first minute.
The Grey Wolves matched them though, and with less than 3 minutes played the game was tied at two.
The teams traded goals again to make it 3-3 but with just over a minute remaining the yellow sweaters poured in two more to end the first frame up 5-3.
Both goaltenders had trouble with rebounds and covering up loose pucks in the crease.
    First period goal scorers?
Alec Tang and Ayaan Khan with two for the Wolves; Thomas Baker, Lucas Bruce, Matthew Nazaruk and J.D. Shoniker with two for the Vipers.
Thinks settled down somewhat in the second. The Grey Wolves' Rick Schwarzkopf scored a power play marker to pull within one, but late in the period Baker scored again to restore the two goal cushion.
Frank DeMaria called the Vipers players over to the bench at the start of the third period, probably telling his charges that they had their first victory of the season in their grasp, as long as they played smart hockey.
The Vipers held on, in fact added another from Bruce to seal the Vipers 7-4 win.
