The Vipers coach was absent for this playoff opener, while a number of Grey Wolves players were under the weather.

The Wolves' Kyle Kornelson hit the post in the first, the only scoring chance of the period.

In the second another Wolves shot went into the net during a goalmouth scramble, but only after the referee had lost sight of the puck and blown his whistle.

Shortly after that the grey shirts Miles Bowen made a big save robbing J.D. Shoniker.

The rest of this tight checking contest generated little scoring chances, and the game ended in a scoreless draw.
