The Red Bulls entered this game undefeated, but could be considered lucky to have won their last one, when they scored three goals in less than two minutes to eke out a 3-2 victory over the hard-luck Vipers.
This one was a good hockey game with both teams appearing to be equally matched. No score through the first period, with a couple of chances at both ends.
Observers thought the second period would end scoreless too, but with less than a minute remaining the Bulls Robert Szalay made a nice move to beat the Wolves goalie to open the scoring.
In the third period, the Wolves got a power play with seven minutes to play. Would that be their chance to tie things up?
The grey sweaters did have one good scoring opportunity, but the puck was blocked by a Red Bulls defenseman. After the penalty expired the Wolves kept the pressure on, but could not score.
Throughout the game, but particularly in the third period; the Wolves thwarted promising rushes by going offside.
With a minute and a half remaining Alexander Lawson had a golden chance to score, but Wolves keeper Miles Bowen made a great save to keep things within reach. Shortly after that Alec Tang had a good shot, but Bulls goalie Tyler Jones made the good stop.
The Wolves pulled their goalie, but all for not, with Elijah Wilson scoring into the empty net to make the final score 2-0 for the Red Bulls.
