Jets do it again with a 7 to 5 win!
Two minutes remaining in the first period saw a scramble in front of our net give way to the opening goal. However, we didn’t take this lying down. A minute later Jedryk assisted by Ribeiro made it 1-1 going in to the second.
A hooking penalty gave us a man advantage and with 3 minutes into the period Foss rattles one off the crossbar from a tough angle.
But the Penguins retaliated by tying it up six minutes into the second from a ringer off Matt’s post. Jedryk assisted by Ribeiro and McCoy allows the Jets to take a 3-2 lead. Literally seconds later the Penguins tie it up again.
But fancy stick handling around the goalie by Rasquin allowed the Jets to go into the third period up 4 to 3.
Four minutes in, it looked like the jets would be confirming a win of 5 to 3 from Ferrari, Foss and Blake but those pesky Penguins came back 5 to 4.
The Penguins took a penalty for tripping but many thought we should have been given a penalty shot. It mattered not as we capitalized on a two man advantage with Ferrari, Foss and Blake upping the score to 6-4. But the persistent, pesky, Penguins scored to make it a close 6 to 5 with the Jets on a power play.
We breathed a sigh of relief as Blake, assisted by Sweet 27 seconds left in the game, put one in the empty net after the Penguins were nabbed with too many skaters on the ice.
