During the recent World
Junior Championships, the Oakville Atom White RedHawks were treated to an
incredible day by McDonald’s. As part of
the McDonald’s atoMc hockey program, the RedHawks entered a competition to submit
a 30 second video demonstrating how our team uses “Teamwork” to become better
teammates and better people. The RedHawks video was selected as the
winning entry which made December 28, 2014 a special day to remember for all
the players and parents.
The day started with our team getting picked up by a charter bus at Sixteen Mile arena and taken to the Air Canada Centre to get ready to hit the same ice as the Leafs and the World Juniors play on. Greg Schell, Toronto Maple Leafs Youth Hockey Development Coach, led the RedHawks through a 60 minute practice that was focused on speed and fun. Following practice, it was off to McDonald’s on Yonge Street for a great lunch with the team. Next up was a trip to the Hockey Hall of Fame, and to cap off the day, our team was treated to fantastic seats for the World Junior Game between Russia and Switzerland.
McDonald’s provided the RedHawks with a once in a lifetime opportunity. Along with our sincere thanks to McDonald’s, our team also wants to pass along a special thank you to Bob Stellick and Jess Rutledge from Stellick Marketing Communications who organized the day and took care of all of us while in Toronto, as well as Coach Greg Schell and Hockey Canada.
