PRESTON the Mascot
This past weekend the team participated in an early bird tournament.  While they did have a lot of fun and did a lot of learning on the ice much of the excitement came Saturday night at the hotel arcade.  This play by play was shared by two team moms, Shona and Andrea.

So last night I went to the arcade to check on the boys and I find James and Andrea with the hugest smiles on their faces, taking pictures, video taping and laughing hysterically. They are both so happy, I ask what's going on they say these amazing boys on our team have just spent the two days team building, going to the arcade sharing and pooling all their tickets. They decided between them all they want this one snake that’s worth 5000 points. At the time of the arcade closing, they finally had enough tickets to buy the snake, they are determined to get their prize, but they learn at first they are not able to redeem their points as they just gave their last packaged snake away that afternoon. They begged and pleaded with the staff for the floor model snake that has been zip tied to the ceiling for over 2 years and it's full of dust, but they are all in love and don’t care if it’s dirty or has holes. They are screaming and chanting for the snake.  The manager finally agrees to let these boys have this dusty snake.

The manager climbs on a step stool to cut the zip ties. She tries to get it down and she’s not successful, the boys chant for Oliver to try and he tries makes progress but it's so high. Then Oliver's dad, James goes up and tries again, Andrea goes missing but turns up, she finds a taller chair for James to stand on. They are 100 percent invested to make these boys get their snake.  James is the hero, he gets snake down and throws it into the arms of the boys they go insane and start running as a team screaming with joy for their snake.

They run down hall and all realize they need to show their coach, so they run screaming through the parking lot to him.  At this point Coach Don is thinking who are these kids and which hockey team is making all this ruckus at 10:30 at night. He quickly realizes it’s his team and sees the excitement of their new team mascot. They decided on the name Preston because they meet a boy at the arcade who donated 500 tickets to team so they could get the snake.

Be sure to look for Preston when you come to see us play.
