Great First Game, News, MAW1 - Dombek, MAW, 2014-2015 (Oakville Rangers Hockey Club)

The first game was a pleasant surprise.

Although we cannot read too much into first games, it came as a pleasant surprise that this team seems to have a lot of collective hockey sense.  What came as no surprise is the team speed we have.

The boys played a fast and defensively responsible game today.  The team prevented the opposition from penetrating the slot and ensured the puck was in and out of the defensive zone quickly.

The offence took the puck to the net and made the most of their opportunities.  What was encouraging was the number of passes to the slot followed by the number of bodies around the opposition net. 

The scoring was balanced which is another great indicator that the team concept over the individual team is what we have achieved through the draft. 

We have a lot of work ahead of us in teaching and learning skills and positions but it was encouraging to see we have a great group with which to work.
