Near Perfection
The Phantoms played what the coaches, parents, and players feel was their best game of the season with respect to effort, defence, offence, and positional play.  There were no big mistakes which lead to a scoring chance.  There was no lack of effort resulting in a weak side of the ice.  There was no lack of positioning to allow the Devils to get a foothold on offence.  There was relentless forechecking, hard shots, and solid positional play which allowed the Phantoms to contain the opposition.

The Phantoms fought hard around the opposition net, continually executed the breakout efficiently and successfully, and played deep in the Devils zone.  An extremely difficult combination to overcome.  The Devils' goalie played exceptionally well and ensured the score didn't get out of hand.

The Phantoms required the services of a call up goalie today.  Thanks to Nicholas who stepped up to help the Phantoms earn their 18th win of the season.  And congratulations to Nicholas who earned a shutout in doing so.

The Phantoms' defence was exceptional as they ensured there were few or no scoring chances against their goaltending guest.  The wingers were into the opposition corners so fast the opposition defence didn't have time to react.  The centers were relentless in providing support to their wingers on both sides of the ice rather than feeling they had to carry the full burden of the attack.  The trust that was displayed between players today was phenomenal (clear the tear from my eye).  There is nothing that would need to be changed if this game were to be played all over again.  The coaches are proud of what this group is accomplishing and how much learning they are absorbing during this season long journey.
