Each season there always seems to be one team that has another team's number. For whatever reason, they tend to play a specific team very hard. The Devils are that team for the Phantoms. Every game is a nail biter and the outcome is in question until the bitter end.
Today's match was no different. The Devils came to play and once again they took a tie game into the late stages of the third period. To make things even more exciting, the Devils earned a penalty shot in the third period down by two goals. The shooter hit the post and failed to score which preserved the Phantom's 3-1 lead at the time. That score held to the end of the game.
The Devils seem to be able to defend against the Phantoms offence quite well. They seem to be able to wait for their chances and are able to take advantage of defensive miscues. The Phantoms seem to have more defensive breakdowns against the Devils than any other team, but, today were lucky enough not to have them come back to haunt them. The Phantoms must learn to find the next gear when playing against the Devils. The Devils are definitely well suited to play against the Phantoms and the Phantoms need to learn to play this team much harder by the time the playoffs come around.
