Last month we updated you on the Hockey Canada mandate for players 8-years-old and under to participate in Modified Ice Programming and the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club's support of this new programming.  However, we also recognized the need for an advanced skills program for Tyke aged players and committed to finding an option for these players under the new Hockey Canada mandate. The Oakville Rangers are proud and excited to announce the return of our Tyke 1,2, and 3 teams in half ice format!

For the 2017 spring tryouts we launched a new tryout system which ensured that less players were on the ice for each session and that every player was fairly assessed. This past Friday, December 15 the Oakville Rangers Hockey Club announced the AAA coaches for the 2018/2019 season.  At most age groups, we had multiple applicants including almost a dozen new non-parent applicants which is awesome.  Our final selections were the result of many inputs.  Panel interviews; application reviews; reference checks; season plan reviews; parent surveys; practice evaluations and team success were all criteria that the committee used in the selection process.  The result is arguably the most qualified group of AAA coaches the club has ever had.  Congratulations to the successful applicants and thanks to all who applied.  It all starts with coaching.

This is the time of year when minor hockey club websites announce the drafting, signings and scholarships of their top alumni.  Profiles and background stories are written and the players’ respective accomplishments are deservedly recognized and celebrated.
