2021/22 Season Update

Ranger Families,

In the past couple of weeks we have seen some positive direction from the Government of Ontario with respect to the Province re-opening and Return to Play plans for both indoor and outdoor sports. On May 20, 2021, the Government of Ontario introduced a three-step “Roadmap to Reopen” plan. Within this plan, it is projected that indoor sport leagues will be able to resume in Stage 3 with restrictions.

This has understandably lead to many (many) emails and phone calls from our Membership wondering what is going to happen with ORHC programming for the upcoming 2021-2022 season and when we will be able to get back on the ice.

We are happy to share what we have been working on and the details that we currently have.

2021-2022 Player Registration
The Hockey Canada Registry ("HCR") is currently undergoing a system overhaul which began in April, 2021. While the HCR is undergoing these changes, minor hockey associations in Ontario (with the exception of girls associations who are governed under the OWHA) are not able to open their registrations for the 2021/22 season.

It is currently being projected that the new Hockey Canada registry will be able to start accepting registrations in mid to late July. We are all anxious to get our hockey season registrations up and running and will send out information on registering for the Rangers 2021/22 season as soon as it is available.

We know that you are as excited as we are to get back on the ice and we can't wait to launch our 2021/22 Registration Campaign. In the mean time, Rangers staff have been working diligently creating a return to play model for the upcoming 2021/22 season. Below are some updates on what we have been working on.

How will the 2021-2022 Season Look?
While it is impossible to give a definitive answer on how the 2021/22 season is going to look at this point in time, we are optimistically forming programming structures which are based on traditional hockey play and format. These Return to Play plans are also being strategically structured to be applicable in both traditional hockey models and Covid-19 influenced models.

Below is a summary of what we are planning for House League programming in the 2021/22 season. Please see the 2021/22 Registration Information Page for program specific details.
