Both teams were looking to make a statement in this preview of the Championship Game on March 29th.
The Red Bulls, who had not defeated the Leafs this year, were looking to prove they could; while the blue shirts were hoping to say, "Don't get your hopes up!"
There were three goals in the first period, with the Leafs getting two, markers coming from Liam Murphy and Nicholas Riviglia.
The Red Bulls got a goal late from Spencer Osborn.
The only goal of the second was scored by Benito Ritacco on a breakaway, putting the Leafs up 3-1.
The Bulls got a goal from Alexander Lawson early in the third to climb within one.
Minutes later Murphy had a breakaway but was caught from behind. The clearing attempt however went to league-leading scorer Henry Barber who made no mistake in opening up a two goal margin.
Barber scored his second to put the Leafs up by three on a quick release wrister that Bulls goalie Tyler Jones had no chance on.
Robert Szalay made a beautiful pass to his line-mate Lawson to make the score 5-3, but it was too little, too late. The Bulls, trailing by two, pulled their goalie but could not score.
The Leafs need to be considered the favourites to win the Championship, having only lost twice in the regular season and going 5-0 in the playoffs.
The Red Bulls have three weeks of practice time to come up with a plan for the upset.
