Early Bird Tournament Champions!
The Minor Bantam AE team tasted success very early in the season by winning the Justin Williams Cup early bird tournament in Cobourg!
The weekend was full of team bonding with a cottage stay on Rice Lake, BBQ’s, fishing, campfires, loads of laughs and of course lot’s of great hockey.
The team downed the Oshawa Generals 9-3 and 5-3 in round robin play which was a great confidence boost for the Rangers, who are playing contact hockey for the first time. They were pushed early on in round robin play by a strong Northumberland Nighthawks team but their perseverance and determination paid off in the Finals against the undefeated Nighthawks and they found themselves up 3-0 at the end of the first period. The opposition answered back bringing the score within 1 but the Rangers held on through a hard fought 3rd period to bring home the gold with a 5-4 win!
It was a complete team effort and a great kick off for the upcoming season!
