Early Bird Tournament Champions!
Submitted By Danielle Wood on Monday, September 9, 2019
The Minor Bantam AE team tasted success very early in the season by winning the Justin Williams Cup early bird tournament in Cobourg!

The weekend was full of team bonding with a cottage stay on Rice Lake, BBQ’s, fishing, campfires, loads of laughs and of course lot’s of hockey.

The team crushed the Oshawa Generals 9-3 and 5-3 in round robin play which was a great confidence boost for the Rangers, who are playing contact hockey for the first time.  After being beaten by the Northumberland Nighthawks twice in round robin play 6-4 and 3-2, the Rangers stayed the course and continued to improve each game.  Their perseverance and determination paid off in the Finals against Northumberland and they found themselves up 3-0 at the end of the first period.  The Nighthawks answered back bringing the score within 1 but the Rangers held on through a hard fought 3rd period to take the Finals 5-4!

It was a complete team effort and the coaches and parents are really looking forward to watching this team develop to their full potential over the course of the season!

Go Rangers Go!!
