U8/U9 MD Evaluations (Oakville Rangers Hockey Club)

PrintU8/U9 MD Evaluations

Registration for the 2022 U8/U9 Minor Development (MD) Evaluations will be opening soon!

Pre-Evaluation Preparation Skates
In advance of the Fall Tryouts, the ORHC is offering a series of Prep Skates. These optional skates will give players an opportunity to hit the ice and have some fun while they stretch their legs and shake off some of that summer rust before diving into their Evaluation! Participation is optional and there will be NO EVALUATIONS conducted during these sessions. Each session is 1-hour long, at a cost of $25, and will be run by professional instructors. What is Minor Development (MD)
Effective 2021/22 the OHF amended the Playing Regulations to eliminate all Rep categories at U9. The implementation of this decision was deferred for one season. Therefore, effective the 2022/23 season, the only categories permitted at U9 will be House League (HL) and Minor Development (MD).

Minor Development (MD) is a category of minor hockey which defines programs that are above select hockey and not competitive (i.e. AAA, AA, A). MD Teams are teams that participate at a level above a Select team but lower than a team categorized as "AE/BB" hockey. Minor Development players do not participate in a House League Program. MD is the highest level at U8 and U9. For the 2022/23 season the Oakville Rangers will be offering 2 U8 MD Teams (U8MD-Tier 1 and U8MD-Tier 2) and 3 U9 MD Teams (U9MD-Tier 1, U9MD-Tier 2, and U9MD-Tier 3)

Evaluation Schedule
U8/U9 MD does not hold "Tryouts" in the traditional sense. Instead, a series of Evaluation Skates are conducted.
