The Phantoms played a solid game today but have noticed the opponents are getting much tougher to score against. This is a result of the time teams are spending on defensive play and skills development at practice. The teams are getting their legs and are all becoming much better.
The Phantoms know if they stop progressing and working hard, they will not maintain the lead they have built through the 1st quarter of the season. It's easy for a team to let up when they have a little bit of success and the danger is they cannot recover once they realize this has happened. It's up to the coaches and parents to instill the work ethic in the team that will allow them to remain successful and continue to grow. This is a season long process and the work has just begun. The early success was a bonus.
Usually teams take until Christmas to find their mojo and that's what seems to be happening now. The pre-Christmas and post-Christmas hockey will be two different animals. The division will tighten up and the compete level of the games will be raised. This is already happening. It should be an exciting finish to the season.
