Half Way Point
The halfway point in the regular season has been reached.  The Phantoms development is where it was expected to be at this point in the season, but the results the Phantoms have attained are well beyond what anyone imagined.

The Phantoms are an extremely hard working group of players who never give up.  They work as hard in the third period as they do in the first, sometimes harder.  Occasionally, it takes them a period or two to get their legs going but by the third, they are usually in high gear.

The boys were in tough against a much improved team today.  This team always plays the Phantoms tough.  Our opponents today were strong defensively and it was a tight game through the first two periods.  The Phantoms, however, rose to the occasion in the third period and were able to score a few goals and preserve the lead to the final buzzer.

With the second half of the season beginning, the Phantoms will be focusing on a few new strategies in addition to honing those which have already been introduced.  Skills such as looking for and hitting targets, passing and shooting, decision making and situation recognition will be the focus.  Look for defensemen rushing the puck under strict guidelines as well.  These are skills the players will need to get to the next level.  They have been made aware that "slap hockey" is no longer acceptable and accurate passing, skating, and thinking their way through games is the goal.
