Finally!
Finally!  The boys have been deserving all season long and finally put one away.

I saw a lot of passion today.  I saw attempted breakouts and some nice passes.  We had scoring chances including a crossbar.  We used the point shot to our advantage which I would like to see more often.  It was a very even match as far as scoring chances.  I felt the overall game played on Wednesday was better from an execution point of view with the exception of a few defensive slips, but the Wolverines have played well in the last 3 games.

The panic type play reared its ugly head at the end of the game and the solid shots the boys have been working on disappeared.  We could eliminate the panic play if we could be stronger on the clearing shots but it is improving.

The timing is both good and bad.  It’s good that they enter the break on a winning note, but they have been playing much better and it’s almost a shame we have to take a break!

Some of the parents suggested I recap nicknames bestowed upon the boys since everyone wasn’t at the naming ceremony:
Mark Zumer – Non-stop - He cannot be stopped on the ice and his smile is never ending
Philippe Mitchell – Pro - He is a student of the game and has a professional attitude
Dante Zardo – Heart -  He plays all out all and wears his heart on his sleeve
Maanav Parikh – The Shooter – He has a wicked shot and can pick the top corner from anywhere
Kyle Kozak – Digger – I don’t want to go into the corner against him.  He is aggressive on the puck in the corners
Aman Patodia – Fins – He is fast on the ice and a provincial leader in the pool
Matthhew Calabro – Bulldog – He is tough on the puck and once he bites he doesn’t let go
AJ Dombek – Bulldozer – He cannot be stopped going up the boards.  He just keeps on trucking
Sebastian Romano – Multi-man – Plays all skating positions.  Multi-dimensional player
Matt Karens – Howitzer – He has obviously been working on his shot
Alex Grieco – The wall – First year on defence and doing quite well
Andrew Thomson – Skates – smooth skater forwards and backwards
Evan Kwan – Rocket – Fast skater.  Extremely effective back checker as a result
Jeffery Di Perna – The Shadow – Very efficient in front of his net.  Rarely needs to be reminded to cover the opposition player.  Great angler.
Nick Fragos – Gamer – Nick not the biggest fan of practice but does he ever show up in games!

Please have a safe and fun Christmas break!
