Hard Work Rewarded!
I am very pleased with the direction in which our team, as a
whole, is moving. I believe the hard,
sometimes repetitive, work we have been doing is paying off. Each game we play is cleaner, and more and
more of what we are working on is transferring into the games. And it’s still early!!
Our games have been close, and the teams seem well balanced based on the teams we have played so far. As we refine our positional play we will hopefully begin to distance ourselves from the pack.
A big shout out to Nick who kept us in today’s game in the early stages until we got our motors running! The opposition had 9 of their 15 shots in the first period alone and if I were to guess, 7 of those were in the first 2-3 minutes of the game. It took a few minutes for us to get into game mode but then the adrenalin kicked in. The wingers were penetrating deep into the corners and the player of the game, Aman, was melting the ice under his skates beating the opposition defence into the zone for the puck. The defence was strong in our corners getting the puck up to the wingers and very successful in angling the opposition attacks to the corners. The centers were successful in getting the puck deep.
Our first goal was scored by Kyle off a rebound from Phillipe’s shot. Phillipe was credited with the assist. Rebound goals are what we love to see! The second goal was scored off the rush by Maanav who was streaking in down the boards and shot from almost the top of the circle, and still went top shelf. What a shot!! With a shot like that he should be shooting from everywhere! Hopefully he agrees!
